This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
As an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

Meghan, I certainly know and understand how you feel and am so sorry you have to put this important appointment off...you have been so patient. I remember being VERY upset with a doctor for doing the same thing to me. When I finally saw her, I told her how upsetting it was to feel less important on her list. She was so surprised and thankful for hearing this because she wasn't the one to choose which appointments should be rescheduled - it was all done by office personnel - and she never considered what the consequences might be for the patient being "put off". She instructed her staff to make sure that the rescheduled person understood and was in agreement with the change. It's important to let the doctor know.
I'll be thinking of you while you wait and hope that the holiday coming up fills you with love, laughter, family, friends, and great food!
