having this blog is a little stressful.
what do i write when there's no new news?
yesterday was my first day without attendants since the surgery. eric went to work and my parents stayed up in vail - under my orders.
and i think i did pretty well. i got my own food. i let kitty out. i took care of the flower bouquets. i got the mail. and i even had a visitor. i do have to say, though...i think i pushed it a little too far. by the time 4:00 came around, i was exhausted. and my incisions kind of hurt. so. i learned my lesson. and today i will spend most of the day reading my book - water for elephants.
i'm still waiting for a call from the oncology department to set an appointment with an oncologist - the one who will recommend treatment for me. i'm still waiting for a call about the full pathology report - including what's lamely called a her2nu result. much like the estrogen receptor positive test...it'll help to determine what drugs will help me in the future.
and then thursday i have a post-op appointment with dr. haun. i'm not really sure what happens then but i guess she looks at all my incisions to see how i'm healing and feeling.
even more fun to look forward to, though, is having my friend riki come to visit from san diego this weekend. what i've definitely learned in this process is that even i don't have too many friends here in denver - holy crap - i have some really, really good ones outside of denver.
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
As an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

If your bored, there is always hermit making !!
I'm so happy that progress is going well, even though the patient is bored. If you think back, what made everyone smile was a big batch of warm hermits and a glass of milk. What better way of spending the afternoon, then sucking up some, right out of the oven, hermits to make things better.
Love ya
Meghan,
You know you really write well!Nice job staying busy and you do have good friends here in Denver and we love you.I am checking on that stuff and will be getting back to you. See you soon!
Mike
Dear Meg,
Thank you for thinking of all of us out here and keeping us posted. (Would it be in poor taste to say thanks for keeping us abreast?) And what are these hermits I keep reading about?!
I hope you will have more good news to share in the next several days as you have your calls and meetings.
Have a wonderful visit with Riki and we will do our best to take good care of Eric.
Love,
sandy :-)
You have really really good relatives in MA. This one is happy to hear from you. You do write very well, a treat, really, but know that we don't need a lot from you...just a word or two is enough. Thinking of you and moreso on Thursday...actually every day.
Love, Susan
I just hope you haven't eaten all of the hots by the time I get there. Can't wait to see you!!!!!!!
Susan is right....you do have loads of really good relatives here in MA who are rooting for you and thinking of you each and every moment. Tell Uncle Bruce to quite talking so much about hermits and MAKE some already!
Love
erica xxooo
Hi Megs,
Thanks for your huge effort in keeping us up on your progress. As tough as your recovery may be try to remember you are making PROGRESS. You are so brave. I wish I could stop by and watch a movie with you. By the way, have you seen the animated movie "Over the Hedge"? It's really hilarious if you are up for a silly light film. Even if we're not there physically please remember you are NOT alone.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
P.S. I am with Erica, Bruce were you really suggesting Meghan should MAKE the hermits?? I think stirring molasses batter at this point maybe over doing it. Get out the apron boyfriend and get cookin'!!!!
